WOODSTOCK SENIOR RECREATION SCHEDULE
With the support of the Town Board, the Woodstock Senior Recreation Committee offers regular arts and
exercise classes to Woodstock residents 55 and older. Except for Bridge, classes take place at the Mescal Hornbeck Community Center on Rock City Road.
Fit Dance with Adah Frank: 9 - 9:50 a.m. Dance and movement for strength and flexibility
Drama with Edith Lefever: 10 a.m -noon. Comets of Woodstock focuses on improvisation, acting
exercises, monologues and scenes, and offers public performances.
Painting with Jennifer Wulfe Schimmrich: 2-4 p.m. In addition to painting supplies and instruction, participants enjoy periodic exhibitions friendship and camaraderie. Meets behind stage.
Dance with Inyo Charbonneau: 9-10 a.m. The emphasis is on fun while benefiting from strengthening
and aerobic exercise and celebrating life.
Strength and Balance with Christine Anderson: 11 a.m. to noon. This adaptive exercise program is
based on research from Tufts University and the instructor's background in therapeutics and meets
Tuesdays and Fridays. Registration and doctor approval required.
Pilates Basics, introductory level, with Christine Anderson: 12:05 - 1 p.m. A floor work course
promoting improvement of balance, coordination, focus, awareness breathing, strength and flexibility.
Gentle (Chair) Yoga with Susan Blacker: 9-10 a.m. A gentle yoga class with each student encouraged to move
and stretch at his or her own pace. Includes warmups, poses for strength and balance and breath work for
Writing with Lew Gardner: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. second and fourth Wednesdays. Rock City Writers
provides new and experienced writers a venue for self-expression and sharing. Meets behind the stage.
Weights and Bands with Linda Sirkin: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Improve muscle tone, protect bones and
Feel Good Aerobics with Diane Collelo: 8 -9 a.m. Brisk dance and movement.(Through December)
Stretch and Flex with Diane Collelo: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Three-part class offering movement for balance
and breath, weight-training for bone health, and mat work for flexibility and core strengthening.
Duplicate Bridge with Edward Reisner: 1-4 p.m. The Woodstock Bridge Club offers a short lesson and a
game of Duplicate Bridge. Woodstock Rescue Squad, Route 212
Chi Kung with Corinne Mol: 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Gentle standing meditative movements that create a sense of being energized in a peaceful and healing way.
Strength and Balance with Christine Anderson: 11 a.m. to noon. See Tuesday.

Senior Recreation activities are open to Woodstock residents 55 and older; a minimum contribution of $1
per class, $2 for art, is requested.
